VJ Books Presents Vincent Lardo!
Vincent Lardo was born in the Bronx in 1930. He enlisted in the Army in 1952. In 1954 he was stationed in Japan, and was discharged the same year. He enrolled at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey under the G.I. Bill, gaining a degree in English literature. After pursuing a banking career, he entered public relations and advertising which became his main career until the mid-1980s when he started writing novels.
After three novels, Lardo turned from part time to full time novelist and left his native New York City to live permanently in his beach house in Amagansett. This resulted in his first 'Hampton' mystery, THE HAMPTON AFFAIR, published by Putnam. It was well received by both reviewers and readers, sparking his second 'Hampton' mystery, THE HAMPTON CONNECTION.
At that time Lardo's editor at Putnam noted a similarity between Lardo's droll humor and acerbic wit and that of the late best selling author Lawrence Sanders. Looking for a writer to continue Sander's popular Archy McNally series, Putnam contracted Lardo as Sanders' successor. All of Lardo's McNally series titles were New York TImes bestsellers..
