VJ Books Presents Author Timothy Hallinan!
 Timothy Hallinan was born in 1949. His childhood was a flurry of good books and moving from one place to the next. He began writing as a teenager, but would not become published until midlife. He sang in a rock band while in college, and wrote songs, some of which made their way onstage at the hands of more successful bands, such as Bread.
Following university, Hallinan worked as a marketing consultant in the television industry. He later founded his own consulting firm which created websites for numerous public television programs. He began writing during this period in his life, when he was offered a write-for-hire job. He wrote a couple books under different names through this arrangement, and was inspired to begin writing his own novels. Two went straight into the his personal archives, but the third, The Four Last Things (1989) he submitted for publication, and quickly had a signed deal for a series.
Hallinan now writes full time and is the author of the Simeon Grist series, the Poke Rafferty series, and the Junior Bender series, all of which are still being added to. His books have earned him nominations for both the Edgar and Macavity mystery awards.
Hallinan is based in Southern California and Southeast Asia.
