VJ Books Presents Steve Cavanagh!
Steve Cavanagh was born Belfast, Northern Ireland. He initially set out to study Business and Marketing, but wound up studying Law due to a misinterpretation of his timetable. However, the subject suited him, and he continued his studies as a postgraduate in Cardiff, Wales. During university, he also wrote screenplays, and found an agent to represent him, but he was unlucky in selling his work so he decided to focus on his legal career.
Cavanagh has worked as a bouncer, security guard, pot-washer, and call center operative. Following these jobs, he landed a position as an investigator for a law firm where he would later become a solicitor. For some time, his work focused on litigation involving accidents and insurance before he moved into a civil rights practice. His work in this area has been distinguished; he holds a certificate in Advanced Advocacy, and was appointed to the Labour Relations Agency's panel of Arbitrators and Independent Appeal Chairmen by the Northern Ireland Department of Employment and Learning. He was responsible for winning a high-profile racial discrimination case on behalf of a factory worker, which resulted in the largest award of damages for this type of case in the legal history of Northern Ireland. Cavanagh also gives lectures on various legal subjects.
After the sudden death of his mother, Cavanagh decided to return to his ambition for writing. So in the evenings, after his work and family duties were complete, he would write until he couldn't stay awake any longer. His first novel, The Defense, sparked a bidding war when submitted to publishers. Since then, Cavanagh has published three more books featuring his protagonist, Eddie Flynn.
Cavanagh currently lives in Northern Ireland with his wife, Tracy, and their two children.
