Author Samantha Shannon Samantha Shannon was born November 8, 1991 in West London, England. She graduated from St. Anne's College, Oxford having studied English Language and Literature. She specialised in the poetry of Emily Dickinson and Principles of Film Criticism.

She published her debut novel, The Bone Season, in 2013. The Bone Season is the internationally bestselling first installment in a seven-book series of fantasy novels.

Her books have been shortlisted for Women of the Future's Young Star Award 2013 and for the National Book Award.
