VJ Books Presents Author Robert Gleason!
Robert Gleason was born in Michigan City, Indiana. He financed his further education by working in a steel mill for seven years, and thanks to that effort earned an AB in English literature from Indiana University and a master's degree in English from the University of Wisconsin and he also did a stint at the Sorbonne in France.
Gleason worked in publishing as an Acquisitions Editor, and later Executive Editor, for most of his professional life, including time spent at Simon and Schuster, Playboy Press, and, most recently, Tor/Forge. He has been significantly involved in prison literacy in New York City, editing and publishing works written by inmates and ex-offenders and speaking at prisons. His work in this area earned him the distinction of having a day named for him by the city. Furthermore, Gleason has established himself as an expert on the subject of nuclear terrorism, and has shared his knowledge at many universities, and on TV and radio, including a 2-hour special on the History Channel titled Prophets of Doom.
Gleason's own writing career also often explores the theme of nuclear war. His plots tend to deal with high stakes and high creativity. He has published both fiction and non-fiction titles, as well collaborating with author Junius Podrug on their popular Aztec series.
Gleason lives in New York City.
