This was one of THE best written stories of conspiracy and fact-based fiction I have EVER read. The jacket summary is vague and it was only in trusting Crichton as an author that I read this book. I found myself subconsciously nodding and agreeing as the story unfolded and grew more complex. The more complex it grew, the more epiphanies I had. This book is beyond casual reading material and leaves lots upon which to reflect.
With the threat of global warming looming overhead, people are working harder to preserve our planet. But exactly WHY do we believe this? Albeit most of us are well intentioned, there is a very believable underlying agenda in this story. This book is the product of tireless research, footnotes included, and intriguing commentary that leaves so much to ponder, as well as question Mr. Crichton's personal vies on the subjects. Thankfully, he anticipated this and states his place and beliefs very clearly at the end of the book. Bravo, MC.
