VJ Books Presents Author Paul Kemprecos!
Paul Kemprecos (born 1939) spent more than 20 years as a reporter for Cape Cod newspapers before penning his successful Aristotle "Soc" Socarides adventure series.
Kemprecos says that he had never written fiction or read much, but had enjoyed the books of Raymond Chandler and came up with his own detective, and ex-cop, diver, Cape Cod fisherman and private eye named Aristotle "Soc" Socarides. Soc was more philosophical than hard-boiled, and he lived in a boathouse with a big cat named Kojak. Soc made his first appearance in Cool Blue Tomb which won the Shamus Award from the Private Eye Writers of America for Best Paperback novel.
Years later, bestselling author Clive Cussler told Kemprecos that a spin-off from the Dirk Pitt series was in the works. It would be called the NUMA Files and he wondered if Kemprecos would be interested in tackling the job. Although Kemprecos wasn't sure that he could make the jump from a regional private eye book to a globetrotting adventure, he took on the writing of Serpent which brought into being Kurt Austin and the NUMA Special Assignments Team. Kemprecos went on to write another seven NUMA Files novels with Cussler.
Kemprecos lives in a circa 1865 farmhouse on Cape Cod with his wife Christi. He enjoys skiing, boating, and spending time with his three children and seven granddaughters.
Norwood Press is the sole publisher of Clive Cussler limited edition titles.
