When Hermux Tantamoq attends Mirrin Stentrill's inflammatory art show about cats, he begins to wonder, after he sees a few paintings -- in his usual well-put-together manner -- if "maybe cats weren't so dangerous." At least they make for interesting historical legend, since mouse history only includes stories about their existence. But when Birch Tentintrotter resurfaces after being given up for dead and explains his theory of cats as ancient overlords over mouse slaves, Hermux finds himself involved in an adventurous mission (with Birch and aviatrix Linka Perflinger) to locate the tomb of Ka-Narsh-Pah, king of the cats, and bring credence to Birch's studies. Yet as in any Hermux Tantamoq Adventure, there are plenty of obstacles to face, including a radical activist from the Brotherhood of Mice, a vicious scorpion, and a devious villain who doesn't want mouse history marred by cats. Hermux's adventure goes full steam ahead to a final wedding ceremony that must be stopped at all costs!

Michael Hoeye serves up a suspenseful follow-up that's just as action-packed as his first book. The story line scampers along with plenty of eccentric characters like Tucka Mertslin, and readers will be anxious to figure out who's behind the nasty hijinks. The desert setting also provides a mysterious background, lending a dramatic Indiana Jones-like atmosphere to the plot. Whether he likes it or not, Hermux is in deep, but we can thank heaven for that, because this is thrilling entertainment!
