VJ Books Presents Author Mike Carey (aka M.R. Carey)!
Mike Carey was born in Liverpool, England in 1959. He was a ravenous consumer of comics as a child, and enjoyed drawing out stories for his brother. He earned a degree in English from St. Peter's College at Oxford University and went on to become a teacher.
After teaching for a decade and a half, Carey began writing comics professionally. He has created a large body of work for numerous different publishers including DC and Marvel, working in universes such as Lucifer, the X-Men, and Hellblazer as well as original stories.
Carey later began writing traditional novels as well. His first novel, The Devil You Know, was published in 2007, and kicked off the Felix Castor series. His book, The Girl With All the Gifts (2014) gained critical acclaim and was turned into a feature film. Carey also wrote the screenplay. His other work includes graphic novels and radio plays.
