VJ Books Presents Author Loren D. Estleman!
Loren D. Estleman is an authority on both criminal history and the American West and has been called the most critically acclaimed author of his generation. He has received 22 national writing awards including the Owen Wister Award for lifetime achievement from Western Writers of America.
His newest title, City Walls, is the 31st installment in his Amos Walker Mystery series.
Estleman began writing as a child, sending his first short story off for review at age 15. His work earned him over 160 rejections, but his determination prevailed. A prolific writer, since his debut novel in 1976, The Oklahoma Punk, Estleman has published nearly 80 books, hundreds of short stories and articles for many newspapers including The New York Times and The Washington Post.
Estleman prefers to write on a manual typewriter, writing mostly within the mystery and western genres. His work has earned him a multitude of awards including four Shamus Awards from the Private Eye Writers of America, five Spur Awards from the Western Writers of America, and Lifetime Achievement from both of those organizations as well as the Short Mystery Fiction Society.
He has acquired a loyal cult readership across the United States and in Europe, and his work has appeared in 23 languages.
Estleman was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1952 and grew up in a 19th Century farmhouse. He studied English Literature and Journalism at Eastern Michigan University, and was later presented with an honorary doctorate in Humane Letters by the same.
He is married to mystery writer Deborah Morgan and lives in Michigan.
