VJ Books Presents Author Lindsey Davis!

Lindsey Davis Lindsey Davis was born in Birmingham, England in 1949. She graduated from Oxford University with a degree in English Literature and then became a civil servant. Many years later, unhappy in her work, she began writing, letting her passion for history guide her. Soon after, an unpublished historical romance novel of hers was shortlisted for the Georgette Heyer Prize. She later left her job and took up writing full time.

Davis began writing a romantic magazine serial. She then wrote The Course of Honor (1998), which was rejected and remained unpublished for nearly a decade. However, it led to the development of one of her most well-known characters, Marcus Didius Falco. She produced another manuscript, featuring Falco and published The Silver Pigs in 1989. The novel won the Authors’ Club Best First Novel award in 1989 and her character Falco later won the Sherlock Award for Best Comic Detective.

She has been the Chair of the UK Crimewriters’ Association, the Honorary President of the Classical Association and the Chair of the Society of Authors. She has earned several additional literary awards and was bestowed with the Premio Colosseo by the city of Rome for her stories' contribution to enhancing the image of Rome.
