VJ Books Presents Author Lauren Oliver!
 Lauren Oliver was born (1982) in Queens, New York. She was raised in Westchester, New York. Her parents are both literature professors, and from a very early age, Lauren and her sister were encouraged to make up stories, draw, paint, and essentially spend much of their time living imaginatively.
She graduated from the University of Chicago in 2004 and from NYU's MFA program (creative writing) in 2008. While in the MFA program, Oliver began working at Penguin Books, in a young adult division. While there, she started work on Before I Fall. In 2009, she left Penguin to pursue writing full-time.
Oliver has a variety of interests apart from writing, including reading, cooking, traveling, dancing, running, and making up "weird songs".

She divides her time between Brooklyn and upstate New York.
