VJ Books Presents Author Kevin J. Anderson!
Kevin J. Anderson has published more than 175 books, 58 of which have been national or international bestsellers. He has written numerous novels in the Star Wars, X-files, and Dune universes, as well as two unique steampunk fantasy novels with legendary rock drummer Neil Peart.
Anderson writes fantasy, science fiction, and horror, among other genres. His original works include the Saga of the Seven Suns series, the Terra Incognita Trilogy, and the Wake the Dragon Trilogy. His latest novel, Gods and Dragons, is the final book in the Wake the Dragon Trilogy, featuring a politically charged adventure of swords, sorcery, vengeance, and the awakening of sleeping giants.
Two continents at war: the Three Kingdoms and Ishara have been in conflict for a thousand years. But when an outside threat arises―the reawakening of a powerful ancient race that wants to remake the world―the two warring nations must somehow set aside generations of hatred to form an alliance against a far more deadly enemy.
In addition to writing solo, Anderson has collaborated with authors such as Dean Koontz (Frankenstein: Prodigal Son). He also collaborates with Brian Herbert, son of the legendary creator of the Dune universe, Frank Herbert, writing new installments of the internationally bestselling Dune series.
He first approached a publisher as a freshman in high school, but it took him two years and 80 rejections before he finally saw one of his stories in print.
Anderson graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a degree in Physics and Astronomy and worked at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory for 13 years doing technical writing. During this time, he also published his first full-length novel, Resurrection (1988) before leaving to focus on his writing. His career has been a study in the importance of persistence. Despite his eventual rampant success, he has collected more than 750 rejection slips over the course of his career.
Born in 1962 in Racine, Wisconsin, Anderson spent his childhood in a little town south of Madison. He knew he wanted to create fiction before he even learned to write and wrote his first work of fiction on his father's typewriter at age 8. By age 10 he had saved enough money that he could either buy himself a bicycle or his own typewriter. He chose a typewriter...and has been writing ever since.
Besides writing, Anderson is a Board member of the Challenger Centers for Space Science Education and the Lifeboat Foundation, and an avid mountain climber. He has climbed every peak over 14,000 feet in the State of Colorado and visited 6 continents.
Anderson and his wife Rebecca Moesta are the publishers of WordFire Press. They live in a castle in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado.
