VJ Books Presents Author Kathleen McGowan!

Kathleen McGowan began working on The Expected One in 1989. It was self-published in 2005, and sold 2,500 copies. On July 25, 2006, the book was re-published by publishing giant Simon &; Schuster under the Touchstone imprint. Mrs. McGowan's series now exists in over 40 languages in 60 countries.

The Expected One, The Book of Love, and the anticipated sequels that make up The Magdalene Line series, are based on years of research on four continents into the history of women in Christianity and their long-forgotten role in the development of global spirituality. During her time abroad, Ms. McGowan studied international folklore, mythology and universal storytelling in Europe and the Middle East.

A third-generation native of Hollywood, Kathleen is as comfortable in the film world as she is in publishing and has multiple film and television projects in stages of development. Kathleen McGowan has been interviewed frequently on network and international television, including segments with Diane Sawyer, CNN, Fox News, and the BBC. She has appeared on over 100 radio programs worldwide and has been profiled in hundreds of publications including The New York Times and USA Today.

Kathleen commits a portion of her time and royalties to causes that protect women and children from the horrors of human trafficking and sexual slavery. She has worked with The Emancipation Network and Made By Survivors to fund and participate in programs which provide shelter and safety for victims of abuse.

Kathleen lives in Los Angeles with her children where she collaborates as a songwriter with her husband, Irish-born musician Peter McGowan on their Celtic rock band, Finn MacCool.
