VJ Books Presents Author K.M. Szpara!
K.M. Szpara attended Harvard Divinity School, where he completed a Masters of Theological Studies. He currently works as a paralegal by day, and a writer by night.
As a queer, trans author, Szpara writes the kind of books that his young-adult self couldn't find enough of on the shelves of local bookstores; stories in which LGBTQ+ characters interact in imaginative genres like science fiction and fantasy.
Szpara's work has earned him nominations for both the Hugo and Nebula awards. His essays and short fiction can be found in digital magazines like Lightspeed, Shimmer, and Uncanny, and his first novel, Docile, was released in 2020. A second, First Become Ashes (2021) soon followed, and a third is already in the works.
Szpara lives in Baltimore, MD, with his cat and dog.
