 John Verdon is best known for his very popular Dave Gurney mystery-thrillers. He has worked in advertising, built Shaker-style furniture, and earned a pilot's licence.
After he and his wife moved to the country from New York City, they found the peace they had been dreaming of. At that time, he started reading more and discovered that he loved classic detective stories, specifically the mechanics of constructing the hidden crime and gradually exposing it.
While talking about the process one day with his wife, Naomi, she suggested that he try writing a mystery novel of his own. Two years later, he published the first novel of his Dave Gurney series, Think of a Number. His second novel, Shut Your Eyes Tight, became an international bestseller which has been translated into more than 20 languages. The fifth book in the series, Wolf Lake, was published in 2016.
