John Calvin Batchelor was born April 29, 1948 in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. He is a 1970 graduate of Princeton University and a 1976 graduate of Union Theological Seminary.
Batchelor is a veteran novelist, author of eight novels as well as a short history of the Republican Party. He also writes under the pseudonym Tommy "Tip" Paine. He is also the host of The John Batchelor Show, a nationally syndicated radio news magazine.
He is married and has two children.
