Jan Merete Weiss grew up in Puerto Rico. She studied poetry and painting at the Massachusetts College of Art and received a Master's degree from NYU. Her poems have appeared in various literary magazines.
Her first novel, THESE DARK THINGS, was published by Soho Press in 2011. It is the first of a series of mystery novels featuring Captain Natalia Monte. The second book of the series, A FEW DROPS OF BLOOD (published April 2014) revolves around a double murder which leads Natalia to the gay underground of Naples, where the deeper she digs, the more victims she discovers.
Weiss lives in New York and lectures at Lehman College.
