VJ Books Presents Author George W. Bush!
 George W. Bush was born in 1946 in New Haven, Connecticut, and grew up in Texas. He graduated from Yale with a bachelor's degree in history, and served for six years in the Texas and Alabama Air National Guard. During this time, he also earned an MBA from the Harvard Business School. Following his honorable discharge from the military and graduation from Harvard, Bush started oil company exploration company, Arbusto Energy. He later headed up a group which purchased a controlling interest in the Texas Rangers baseball franchise, and served as managing general partner for several years. In 1978, he made an unsuccessful bid for the House of Representatives in Texas's 19th Congressional District. In 1988, he worked on his father, George H.W. Bush's, presidential campaign, as a Campaign Advisor, reprising this role 4 years later for his reelection campaign.
In 1994, Bush successfully ran for Governor of Texas, while his brother, Jeb Bush simultaneously ran (unsuccessfully) for Governor of Florida. He was reelected for a second term as Governor, and then, followed in his father's footsteps by pursuing the Republican presidential nomination. He eventually won the presidential election by virtue of the electoral college, becoming the first US president to lose the popular vote and still be appointed to the office. He was subsequently reelected to a second term as the 43rd President of the United States.
After leaving office, Bush returned to Texas and largely retreated from the realm of politics to spend more time on personal pursuits. His hobbies include painting and golf, and in 2010 he published his memoir, Decision Points. In 2017, a book of Bush's paintings, Portraits of Courage, was released, with proceeds going to the George W. Bush Presidential Center. A second book of paintings, Out of Many, One was published in 2021.
