Midsummer Eve, 1974, in the far north of Sweden, near the Norwegian border. Annie settles in Blackwater, where Mia grows up, and life is wholesome, serene - until the morning Annie spies her daughter in the arms of the man from the forest, the man she believes is responsible for the murders, and a crime unsolved for nearly twenty years begins to roll toward a dark and devastating conclusion.
