David Rosenfelt is the author of 33 novels, writer of three TV movies, and the owner of 27 dogs.
His first novel, Open and Shut (2002), introduced his most famous character, attorney and dog owner Andy Carpenter.
His latest novel, Best in Snow, finds Andy and his lovable golden retriever, Tara, playing in the snow after a major snowstorm when they instead discover the body of Mayor Alex Olivia. The prime suspect is a young reporter who previously published an expose for which Olivia had him fired for libel. Now this reporter needs a lawyer and Andy agrees to take the case, but it’s not looking good this holiday season as the evidence is piling up faster than the snow.
Before trying his hand at writing, Rosenfelt was the President of Marketing for Tri-Star Pictures, having worked his way up from a job at United Artists (United Artists Digital Studios), a digital production company.
He left the corporate industry to write screenplays for movies and TV. Many of the scripts were sold and a few actually made it to production on the small screen.
In 1995, Rosenfelt and his wife started the “Tara Foundation,” which has rescued almost 4,000 dogs and found them loving homes. The Rosenfelt’s home has also become a sanctuary for the dogs rescued that do not find homes.
Rosenfelt was raised in Paterson, New Jersey and graduated from New York University. The Rosenfelts and their 27 dogs currently live in Maine.
