VJ Books Presents Author Daniel Mason!
Daniel Mason grew up in Palo Alto, California. A childhood fascination with the jungle led him to study archaeology, but he soon discovered he was more interested in the infectious diseases which flourished in the jungle. He earned his bachelor's in Biology at Harvard, spent a year studying Malaria along the border between Thailand and Myanmar, and then went on to graduate from the UCSF School of Medicine.
Mason wrote and published his first novel, The Piano Tuner (2002), while still in medical school, and the story was later adapted to opera. His book A Far Country (2007), was shortlisted for both the James Tait Black Memorial Prize and the Northern California Book Award. He is now a Clinical Assistant Professor at Stanford University, and continues to write.
