VJ Books Presents Author Brandon Sanderson!
Brandon Sanderson was born in 1975 in Lincoln, Nebraska. His interest in reading faltered as a child, but one of his teachers rekindled it by introducing him to epic fantasy. After high school, Sanderson began studying Biochemistry at Brigham Young University. He took a break from his studies to serve as a missionary in South Korea, and while on this hiatus, realized that writing, not chemistry, was where his true passion lay. When he returned, he took up English and Creative Writing instead.
Just during his undergraduate degree, Sanderson wrote no less than 7 complete manuscripts and volunteered for The Leading Edge, BYU’s science fiction/fantasy magazine. Despite his growing collection of rejection letters from publishers, he continued writing his way through his masters, and during this time managed to sell his debut novel, Elantris (2005).
After graduating, Sanderson started teaching Creative Writing at his alma mater. A few years later, he married his wife, Emily, and a year later they welcomed their first child into the world. These days, she works from home as Sanderson's business manager, and he writes full time, but he still finds the time to teach Creative Writing once a year at BYU.
Sanderson is best known for his Mistborn series, and the other books set in the Cosmere universe. He also had the privilege of completing Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series after Jordan's death in 2007. Six of his books have climbed onto the New York Times Hardcover Fiction Best-Seller List, and have been nominated and shortlisted for a plethora of fiction awards. You can find Brandon Sanderson signed books below this author biography.
Sanderson lives with his wife and their three children in American Fork, Utah.
