Author Update - Craig Johnson & Sheriff Longmire!


In 2004 Craig Johnson introduced us to Walt Longmire, as he entered his 24th year as sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming. Over fifteen bestselling novels we have come to know Longmire's lifelong friend, Henry Standing Bear, Deputy Victoria Morretti, and a cast of characters tragic and humorous enough to fill in the vast emptiness of the Wyoming high plains.

The A&E TV series Longmire, based on Johnson's novels, premiered on June 3, 2012, becoming A&E's #1 original-series premiere of all time with 4.1 million total viewers. When A&E dropped the series unexpectedly after three seasons, fan reaction was so overwhelming that the series was picked up by Netflix, returning later this year.

Dry Bones by Craig JohnsonIn the latest Longmire thriller, DRY BONES, Jen, the largest most complete Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton is discovered in Absaroka County, and it appears to be a windfall for the Big Horn Mountain Dinosaur Museum. That is until Danny Lone Elk, the rancher on whose property it's discovered, is found dead with no eyes, floating face down in a turtle pond. As the story unfolds Walt enlists old friends including Henry Standing Bear to find the answers to Walt's sixty-five million year old cold case.

Craig Johnson is a cowboy author from a town of 25 in northern Wyoming, who all of sudden finds images of his character on Sunset Boulevard - 20 stories high. Is Walt Longmire bigger than life' We think so!
