VJ Books Presents Alex Berenson
Born in New York, Alex Berenson grew up in New Jersey, and graduated from Yale University with degrees in history and economics. He reported for the Denver Post, TheStreet.com, and The New York Times.
He burst on to the scene in 2006 with his Edgar Award winning first novel, THE FAITHFUL SPY. That is where we met CIA operative - John Wells.
Berenson on John Wells, "John Wells and I have been together a very long time. If you haven't heard of Wells, he's a CIA operative who plays the starring role in a series of espionage thrillers that I started writing a decade ago. In the first, THE FAITHFUL SPY, I planned to kill Wells off at its end. But my editor told me I couldn't end with a fade to black, that I'd have to have a funeral. I found I couldn't write the scene.
Since then, Wells has proven too tough to die, or maybe too mean. I've lost track of how many men he's killed, but it's well past two dozen."
The ninth book in the bestselling series, THE TWELVE DAYS just released. Berenson adds, ". . . (I) have devoted almost one million words Ñ and a major chunk of my life Ñ to him." Advance praise for TWELVE DAYS includes a starred review from Kirkus - a cynical false-flag operation threatens to thrust the United States and Iran into all-out war and the resourceful Wells and his cohorts have less than two weeks to prevent the carnage.
Discover the world of Alex Berenson and John Wells in THE FAITHFUL SPY (2006), THE GHOST WAR (2008), THE SILENT MAN (2009), THE MIDNIGHT HOUSE (2010), THE SECRET SOLDIER (2011), THE SHADOW PATROL (2012), THE NIGHT RANGER (2013), THE COUNTERFEIT AGENT (2014), and now in TWELVE DAYS.
"Berenson is a master at
building tension, with a ticking clock that's built into the titleÑThis one is
well worth the thriller enthusiast's time...." Ñ
